About Ibogaine Center Cancún
We are a small medical clinic in Cancun that treats addiction and trauma with ibogaine under continuous cardiac supervision. Six suites, one patient at a time in the active phase, and a standard we would accept for our own family.
Why we built it this way
Ibogaine has two reputations. In the clinical literature it is one of the few compounds that can interrupt opioid dependence in a single session. In the news it appears when someone dies in an unmonitored retreat. Both are true, and the difference between them is almost entirely about screening and cardiac monitoring.
So the clinic was designed backwards from the risk:
- A board-certified cardiologist on site, not on call, during the active phase
- Continuous multi-lead EKG telemetry with real-time QTc tracking
- One-to-one ACLS-certified nursing for each patient in session
- Only six suites, because the ratio is the safety standard
- Mandatory pre-treatment screening, and the willingness to decline cases
What we will not do
- We will not treat someone whose cardiac, liver or psychiatric evaluation says no, however much they want it.
- We will not promise a cure. Ibogaine opens a window; the months afterwards decide the outcome.
- We will not take someone off their psychiatric medication quickly to fit a travel date.
- We will not quote a price that hides what is included. Ours is published on the program and pricing page.
Our team
Dr. Carolina Aguirre Guevara — Medical lead. Dr. Aguirre Guevara is responsible for the medical side of every treatment: she reviews each candidate's file personally before a date is confirmed, sets the screening and medication plan, and oversees care during the stay.
Franklin Martínez Rodríguez — Founder and General Director. Franklin has more than 25 years of experience in addiction treatment and rehabilitation, including experience with ibogaine. He founded the clinic and leads its operation, admissions and aftercare.
Hugo Guel — Partner and Marketing Director. Hugo leads the clinic's marketing and patient communications, so that the information families find about ibogaine is clear, accurate and honest.
Every treatment session is supported by a cardiologist on site, ACLS-certified critical care nurses and a clinical psychologist for the integration days.
Where we are
Torre Tzalam Agua 2, Penthouse, Capilla Ecuménica, 77500 Cancún, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Cancun International Airport is a 20-minute drive away, with direct flights from most major US and Canadian cities, which is one reason patients from North America choose Cancun over clinics further inland.
Ibogaine is not a scheduled substance in Mexico; it is Schedule I in the United States. That legal difference, not geography, is why this treatment happens here.
Frequently asked questions
- How many patients do you treat at once?
- Six suites, and the active sessions are staggered so that each patient in treatment has a dedicated nurse and the cardiologist is not divided between two sessions.
- Is the clinic a hospital?
- It is a private medical clinic with hospital-grade monitoring and emergency equipment. For cases needing a full hospital setting — certain detoxes, significant cardiac disease — we say so during screening and refer you.
